Changes to GDSFA Board

At the scheduled January meeting, two changes were made to the composition of the GDSFA Board... 

 

Craig Pullen Appointed

The casual vacancy for the Director whose 'portfolio' is the General Purposes Tribunal (GPT) was filled by Craig Pullen.  Craig comes to the Board with vast experience in disciplinary matters and was one of the GPT panellists in 2011.  The Board is looking forward to Craig being able to make a strong contribution to its operation.

 

Dee Jonsson Resigns

Director Dee Jonsson whose 'portfolio' responsibility was female football participation and development, tendered her resignation.  Dee's resignation, effective immediately, was accepted by the Chairman and the Board.


The Board acknowledges Dee's contribution to football generally and, in particular, her passion for the development of female football within the GDSFA and wishes her well.


The casual vacancy so created will be filled by the Board and persons who may be interested in an appointment to the Board are encouraged to contact either the Chairman (Lou Mantzos) or the Executive Director (Mark Pigram).

2012 Season Structure Announced 

Monday 14 November, 2011 

Late in the 2011 season, a Competition Standing Committee was formed, charged with the tasks of exploring and recommending: 

  • a timetable of matches and
  • the structure of the various age/division breakdowns

 

The recommendation, endorsed by the GDSFA Board, was summarised at the AGM held on Saturday 12th November and is available here for your information

 

Other endorsed arrangements include: 

  1. Nominations permitting, a 'Super League' or 'Premier League Division 2' competition will sit immediately below the existing Premier League competition and it too will be squad-based.
  2. The various 'Senior' competitions will be re-named 'All Age Men' and be coded AAM,- just as the equivalent ladies competitions are called 'All Age Ladies' and coded 'AAL' - with the highest level being AAM5 if Super League comes into being or AAM3 if not.

 

Champion of Champions Tournament - 2011

 

 

footballnswCommencing in 1972, the Football NSW Champion of Champions tournament is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the footballing calendar, with Division 1 champions from each Association (currently aged 11 years and older) pitted against each other in a battle for supremacy.  Normally, the League Winner (or 'Minor Premier') from each age group's Division 1 competition is invited to represent the GDSFA.  Where a particular age group gazetted in the CofC tournament does not exist in the Association, a composite team is normally formed from eligible players who express an interest in playing.  In addition, the tradition is for the Club whose Men's Premier League First Division team finishes League Winners is invited to participate in the 'All Age Men' category.

GDSFA, the owners of the Football NSW Premier League club Parramatta FC, is proud to announce that the framework has been established to provide multiple levels of men's/boys' representative football under the one umbrella. Partners Hills Brumbies (Super League First Grade/Under 20s, Division One Youth League), Granville Rage (Super League First Grade/Under 20s and Super Youth League) and Parramatta FC (Premier League and Premier Youth League) will be working co-operatively to ensure that players from within the GDSFA have every opportunity to play at the appropriate level and undergo consistent coaching and playing methods, providing an unrivalled and streamlined pathway from local (park) soccer all the way to the highest level within NSW.

Recognition of Pendle Hill 13/1 by Football NSW

 

IMG_0119Pendle Hill's 13/1 team has been recognised for its outstanding sportsmanship by arranging for a fund-raising exercise to support an opposition player's misfortune with a medical affliction. At the Football NSW State Dinner held on Saturday 15/10, Coach Brian Kelly and team captain Aidan Kelly proudly accepted the Fair Play Award, nominated by the Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association (GDSFA). Well done Pendo!

 

2011 Annual General Meeting - Saturday 12th November

 

The Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association (GDSFA) is pleased to announce that the 2011 Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday 12th November at Melita Stadium, commencing 11:00am.  All interested parties are welcome to attend, with a light lunch to be served at the conclusion.

 

Three (3) of the existing Directors' terms expire - Howard Groom, Dee Jonsson and Elsbeth Alexander - and an election will be conducted to fill those positions.  Click here to download the nomination form and ensure that it is lodged by the close of business Friday 21st October, 2011.

 

In addition, there are always little jobs that need doing:

  • assisting with team sheet gathering and checking
  • ground announcing at Premier League matches at Melita Stadium
  • manning the entry gate at Melita Stadium

...so you don't have to go the whole way and be a fully-fledged Director to be part of the team!
